Ecstasy/MDMA
Ecstasy is a white powder but is usually tablets and capsules, can be different colours with something stamped on them.
It has the effect of giving an energy buzz and makes emotions more intense.
It is also known as MDMA, E, pills, hug drug, doves and mitsubishi.
It can be swallowed sometimes crushed, dissolved and injected.
The effects can start within 30 minutes of taking the drug and can last between 3 and 6 hours.
Effects on short-term use –
- Dilation of pupils
- Jaw and muscle tension
- Grinding teeth
- Sweating
- Appetite loss
- Insomnia
- Heightened perception
- Nausea
- Aching Muscles
- Chance of over heating and dehydration
Anyone with a heart condition, blood pressure, epilepsy or asthma can have a very dangerous reaction to the drug.
Do not drink alcohol with ecstasy or any other drug.
There have been approximately 112-recorded deaths linked to ecstasy between 2007 – 2011.
Ecstasy is a class A drug so it is illegal to have, give away or sell.
Possession of ecstasy can mean up to seven years in prison and supplying can mean a life sentence and an unlimited fine.
If police catch you in possession of Ecstasy they will definitely take action, this may also hinder your chances of visiting countries abroad and gaining employment.
Driving a motor vehicle whilst high on Ecstasy is illegal the same as drink driving, you may incur a hefty fine, disqualification from driving and in some circumstances be sent to prison.
Also, allowing other people to take ecstasy in your house is illegal, police will prosecute the owner of the house.
