Holidays for the Disabled

If you have a disability there is no reason why you can't do whatever you want to on holiday.

  • Planning is essential for any holiday, but if you have a disability it is even more important to make sure you can make the most of your time away
  • Although there's still a long way to go, many accommodation providers are now taking the needs of their visitors with disabilities into consideration
  • Travel books are handy, but often they don't give much idea about what an area will be like for a visitor with a disability once they arrive
  • Often the best people to talk to about going on holiday are other people with disabilities. They may be able to recommend a hotel or a particular city they've visited in the past with good facilities
  • It's always a good idea to let the company you are travelling with know of any special requirements you have, so that they can make arrangements for you or adapt their facilities
  • Some companies specialise in holidays for people with disabilities, and going with a company like this can be a great way of taking all the hassle out of going away
