Legal Highs National Online Survey
Legal Highs National Online Survey
WHAT IS THE LEGAL HIGH NATIONAL ONLINE SURVEY?
The Legal High National Online Survey is the UK's first independent, national, confidential online survey specifically about individuals' use and views of novel psychoactive substances (NPSs), popularly known as ‘legal highs’.
WHO IS RUNNING THE SURVEY?
The survey was designed and is being run by Doctor Christopher Russell at the Centre for Drug Misuse Research (CDMR), Glasgow. The survey was commissioned by the Buckinghamshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT), Buckinghamshire County Council.
WEBSITE:
People can take the survey at www.mylegalhigh.org.
The survey is open to everyone in the UK aged 18 years and over.
AIMS OF THE SURVEY:
The survey aims to gather information on what novel psychoactive substances, so-called ‘legal highs’, are being used in different parts of the UK, where people acquire and take ‘legal highs’, what psychological and physiological effects people experience after taking different ‘legal highs’, and what things influence people’s decisions to start taking, stop taking, or never take ‘legal highs’. The survey has two overarching aims: to provide individuals who take legal highs, or are considering taking legal highs, with information on which to base their decisions about taking legal highs; and (2) to provide health and education services, Drug and Alcohol Action Teams (DAATs), Community Safety Partnerships (CSPs), drug policy makers, and other key stakeholder working in the field of public health with detailed information about the local prevalence, drivers and consequences of NPS use, and local attitudes towards using NPSs. This information will equip services and service commissioners to better meet the needs of people who present at their services with mental and physical health issues relating to their use of NPSs/legal highs.
