Big P
The ‘Big P’ is the Big Participation model within Wrexham. The Big P works with Young People aged 11-25. The Big P can include any Young People’s groups, projects or forums within Wrexham.
The principle groups of Big P are Area Cluster Forums, Community First Areas, Voluntary Sector/Groups, Equality and Diversity Group, School Council Forum, Big YAC and Post 16 Training and Education Group.
The Area Cluster Forums
The Youth Service has 4 Centres of Excellences these are; The Vic Young People’s Centre, Coedpoeth Centre of Excellences, Llay Resource Centre, and Ruabon Centre of Excellences. The Centres of Excellences also includes the surrounding areas.
Each Centre of Excellence has an Area Cluster Forum. These forums gives Young People a chance to have there voice heard and make a difference in their local community.
Community First
There are 4 community first area within Wrexham these are; Plas Madoc, Caia Park, Coedpoeth and Brynteg. There are opportunities to have your voice heard in these local areas.
Voluntary Groups
The Voluntary Sector is a key part of the Big P. Voluntary groups include Young People’s participation groups within Wrexham such as look Scouts and Young Careers.
Equality and Diversity Groups
There is a number of Equality and Diversity Groups within Wrexham. An Equality and Diversity group can be any group with a specific interest, focus or issue. Some examples of Equality and Diversity Groups in Wrexham include Inspire, In Care Council, Traveller Education and Youth Justices.
Secondary School Council Forum
It is a statutory requirement that every school has a school council. The School Council Forum brings together a number of elected members of each Secondary Schools Council within Wrexham. The School Council Forum come together to work on issues that affect every school within Wrexham.
Big YAC
Big YAC is a project that sits within the Big P. Big YAC is a project that was set up to monitor Youth Work in Education Service (School based Youth Workers). Big YAC is made up of Young People from each secondary school that has school based youth workers.
Post 16 Training and Education Group
The Post 16 Training and Education Groups is a new addition to the Big P model and is currently in the planning and setting up stages.
This group will included any Young People aged 16 – 25 who may be in involved with any kind of training, in education, currently unemployed, or employed. This group will look at issues surrounding post 16 opportunities within Wrexham.
