The following are suggestions of places that you may wish to consult if you need legal advice before you decide if you need a solicitor:

Information and advice centres for young people

• These can include Info Shops, Youth Drop in Centres where they could be youth workers.
• They will help you to make phone calls and write letters which can be all that is needed.
• This help is free.
  

Law centres

• These are similar to advice centres but specialise in legal problems and have a solicitor working for them.

Trade Unions

• If you belong to a trade union they have their own solicitors who will give help to members on employment issues and some unions offer their members help on all legal matters. This help is free.

Insurance Policies

• Insurance policies often include legal advice as part of the policy; this could be for car or house insurance.

Solicitors and Barristers

• Solicitors firms. These are made up of one or more solicitors with other people with legal experience.
• When appropriate barristers are employed by solicitors to represent their clients in court.  Help will usually incur a cost but in some situations it can be free.
• Depending on your circumstances you may be able to get help with the legal expenses.
• If you decide to use a solicitor they will give you advice about how to get financial help.
