The Looked After Children Celebration Event organised by the Wrexham Young People’s Care Council

On Wednesday 18th March 4.45pm – 8pm The Wrexham Young People’s Care Council held a celebration event for looked after children at the Catrin Finch Centre, Glyndwr University. The young people of the Young People’s Care Council applied for and were awarded a Gwirvol Youth Led Grant funded by the National Assembly of Wales. They also planned every aspect of the event and ran the evening and Luke Roberts the chair made the opening speech. The winner of the overall outstanding award was chosen by members of Corporate Parenting Panel.
The evening consisted of:  the award ceremony, a buffet and a disco.  The Mayor, Councillor Alan Edwards attended the event with The Mayoress, Glenys Edwards. The Mayor presented the awards to each child.
Other contributors to event were:
Wrexham Youth and Play Service who paid for the venue hire
A Wrexham based company, Eco deck who kindly donated the cup and shield which was presented to the overall outstanding award winner
Gary Roberts from Sound Events for providing sound and lighting for the night and Gavin Matthews from Chester’s Dee 106.3 for being compere for the evening. Both gave up their time to provide a fabulous disco to round off the celebration.
