On the 27th of November 2011, Wales manager Gary Speed was found dead in his home in Huntington, Chester.

Today, the Football Association of Wales (FAW) have confirmed that Wales will play in a memorial match against Costa Rica. The match will be played at Cardiff City Stadium on February 29th at 7:45pm, three months after his death.

Speed earned his first international cap on the 20th May 1990 with a 1-0 win against Costa Rica. This match was the first and only between the two footballing nations.

He then went on to score seven goals in 85 appearances.

The FAW released a publicity poster with Speed as player and manager, and the Welsh football governing body are expecting a large crowd to attend the match.

Wales are hoping to appoint a new manager early in the new year in time for this friendly.

You can get tickets from next Wednesday (11th January 2012) at www.cardiffcity.co.uk and they're £10 for adults and only £5 for juniors.
