Yn Gymraeg

Standing outside in the freezing cold at the races with a money box in my hand I couldn’t help think, "Why am I doing this?"

When I explain to people what I am collecting for I remember why.

I have been a volunteer and staff member of the Dynamic Centre For Children And Young People With Disabilities for five years now.

Dynamic is a local charity based in Wrexham and is the only provision of its kind in North Wales.

Dynamic gives the members something fun to do after school. It gives children and young people with disabilities a chance to play, socialise, relax and meet other children who have similar disabilities.

It also gives parents respite while their children are having fun.

I placed a few bets for the first time in my life and was lucky enough to win £5 on one race. You may be thinking, "£5? Is that it?", but a win is a win. However, the real winner today was Dynamic, raising a total of £403.46.

With the help of six volunteers (including myself), for an hour and a half’s work we felt a great sense of achievement. I encourage people to help out for local charity, knowing firsthand how wonderful it is.
